George W. Welles, Principal and
founder of Imaging Futures is an experienced international
consultant. He retired as Manager of Broadband Applications for U S
WEST Communications !nterprise Networking Services Group in 1996. In
his previous role at U S WEST (now Qwest), Mr. Welles managed
advanced communication research and development projects as part of
the internationally recognized COMPASS Lab team. In addition to his
research and development work, he served as an advanced technology
consultant to U S WEST and its customers plus led a
cross-disciplinary team to develop business cases for two
multi-million dollar strategic opportunities.
Mr. Welles has led numerous
seminars on future technologies in the United States, Asia, Europe
and the Middle East. He has been providing consultation and
presentation services for his own clientele since 1989.
His clients have included
Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc., Applied Digital Solutions, St. Paul
Companies, Roadway Express, 3M, Cargill, Minnesota Power, USA Today,
Ceridian, Deluxe Corp., Cisco, Eastman Kodak, Boeing, Intel, Amica
Insurance, SAFECO Insurance Company as well as Merck, Johnson &
Johnson, Southern California Gas & Electric, San Diego Data
Processing, Target Corp., Hallmark Cards, International
Communications Industries Association and numerous universities and
research facilities.
Mr. Welles is co-founder of the US
Department of Defense Digital Imaging Symposium andserves
as a Senior Advisor to the Recon Robotics. of Edina MN and GRTA/Convurge
of Washington D.C. He is Vice Chair of the University of Minnesota Computer Science
and Engineering Department's Industry Advisory Group.
He regularly addresses national and
international forums. Recently, he addressed SecureGov 2008 in
Williamsburg VA.
Mr. Welles is an active member of
the Minnesota International Center (MIC), the Armed Forces
Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA),
InfraGard (Minnesota Chapter) and the Communications Media Management Association
(CMMA). He is CMMA accredited.
He has received six international
awards for his work in electronic media including a Gold Medal from
the New York International Film and Television Festival and a Gold
Hugo from the Chicago Film Festival. In 1996 he received CMMA's first
award for lifetime achievement in communications.
